SLFD Firefighter Receives Life Saving Award

"" On October 18, 2016, SLFD Firefighter and Secretary Matthew Brandt was recognized by Ringwood Police Chief Joseph Walker, Mayor John Speer, and members of the Borough Council with a life saving award. On September 26, 2016, Brandt, acting as a driver for the Ringwood Ambulance Corps, was on stand-by at a football game with EMTs Brett Salle and Karen Phillips at Lakeland Regional High School in Wanaque. While on that stand-by, an emergency call went out for a CPR in progress in the nearby Skyline Lake section of Ringwood. Without hesitation, the members of the crew responded and arrived before police assistance was able to get there. While on scene, all members of the crew provided CPR and delivered two AED shocks. The victim was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital where it was learned later on that the victim had survived.

Congratulations to all and excellent work!
