JUNIOR FIREFIGHTERS
Junior firefighters are not required to meet any call or drill percentage requirements as compared to an active firefighter. Additionally, junior firefighters will only be assisting on a fire scene and not permitted to enter any structures until after completion of the NJ Firefighter I course at the Passaic County Fire Academy in Wayne, NJ. They may ride on the fire apparatus or in a chief’s vehicle. Participation on various department committees is encouraged but not required.
We also understand school is very important which is why we restrict our junior members from responding to calls or being at the firehouse from 11 PM until 6 AM. Between the hours of 6 AM and 11 PM, they may respond to any call with parental permission. They may drive to the firehouse with a parent or by themselves if they are licensed.
More information can be provided by contacting the firehouse or stopping by any Thursday night at 7 PM. If you are interested in an application, please stop by the firehouse and ask to see Chief Nick Vitale.
